Born in Prussia, worked as an artist and scene painter in Toronto (c1884-89). Painted landscapes with historical subjects in oil and watercolour. Also painted portraits. Elected to the OSA in 1889. Exhibited at the OSA [1878-79], RCA [1880-85], and CNE. Painted in the Muskokas, Lake of Bays, and Baysville areas. Died in Point Ideal, Lake of Bays, Ontario.
